Dr. Michelle Abella

Dr. Abella is a Licensed Psychologist in Olathe, KS, currently accepting BCBS of KC, Aetna, Tricare, United, and self-pay clients. Lenexa native, TCU graduate ('00), earned a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology ('06). Licensed since 2007, with experience in outpatient and inpatient mental health. Married with two children, she's passionate about supporting women in pregnancy and postpartum stages. Specializing in work-life balance, she connects quickly with clients, fostering resilience. Her collaborative approach focuses on strengths, growth, and nutritional psychology's role in overall wellness.

James has over 13 years of experience, and 7 years of experience in private practice. James enjoys working with clients of all ages and from all walks of life. He is passionate about helping others overcome adversity and uncovering their strengths to create a sense of hope and a new landscape for their future.

Neona Russ, LCPC

Neona is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Kansas and a Licensed Professional Counselor in Missouri and Texas.  She holds a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Avila University and she is certified as an Intuitive Eating Therapist and is pursuing certification in Body Trust in 2025 through the Center for Body Trust.  She works primarily with adults over the age of 18 years old.  In addition to working with clients who struggle with eating disorders including binge eating, food restriction, and body image issues, she also works with clients that have experienced symptoms related to trauma, anxiety and depression.  She utilizes IFS, CBT, Mindfulness Meditation and Solution Focused techniques in therapy. Neona accepts self pay, BCBS of KC, UHC, Cigna, Aetna, and Medicare.

Beth Merz

Beth is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Kansas and a Licensed Professional Counselor in Missouri who works with children and adolescents between the ages of 3 -17. She holds a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Avila University and a Master’s degree in Music Therapy from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. With over 20 years of experience working with children in various settings, Beth helps those struggling with trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, attachment and relationship issues, and difficulties related to ADHD, Dyslexia, and other learning differences.

Connor, with a B.S. and M.S. in Kinesiology and Exercise Physiology from Kansas State University, transitioned from a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) to pursuing a Doctorate of Chiropractic at Cleveland University Kansas City. His journey merges a desire to aid others with a fascination for optimizing human potential. Passionate about aiding athletes and active individuals, he specializes in spinal/extremity injury rehab and soft tissue pain/overuse injury treatment, employing techniques such as dry needling, soft tissue therapies, corrective exercise, and chiropractic adjustments.

Dr. Daniel Garlock

Dr. Garlock is a Licensed Psychologist who earned his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (PsyD) from Wright State University School of Professional Psychology in 2017. With experience across various settings, including outpatient mental health centers, corrections, and integrated healthcare, his current practice primarily focuses on adults. He specializes in treating health-related concerns such as weight/body image, behavioral pain management, behavioral sleep, and coping with chronic illness, as well as trauma, mood disorders, anxiety, and life transitions. Utilizing an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) approach, he helps individuals identify values, enhance present moment awareness, and address the impact of past experiences to improve overall wellbeing.

Susan Hale

RN, MSN, FNP-BC, PMHNP

Susan Hale is a specialist in psychiatry and family practice, with a focus on neuroscience. She holds a Master of Science in Nursing and board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Rockhurst University and Research College of Nursing (2008). She is also a Certified Neuroscience RN through the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses and recently earned her Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner degree from the University of Cincinnati. Susan works with individuals across all age groups, addressing various mental health disorders including depression, anxiety, ADHD, and more. Her dual expertise in mental health and family medicine allows for a comprehensive approach to care. Passionate about innovative mental health treatments, she values both pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical methods to enhance patient outcomes. Raised in Kansas City, she believes in the importance of mental health and sees seeking help as a strength.

Karla Vega, LMLP-T

Karla is a Licensed Masters Level Psychologist-T (LMLP-T) with a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology, specializing in psychological assessments. She earned her undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Communication Studies from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. A Kansas City native, she is bilingual in Spanish and English.

With experience in community mental health, court systems, addiction rehabilitation, and case management, Karla works with children, adolescents, and adults. She specializes in treating behavioral concerns, anxiety, depression, trauma, and mood disorders. Using an eclectic approach, she incorporates Play Therapy, CBT, DBT, EMDR, and other evidence-based treatments to help clients gain insight, develop coping skills, and achieve personal growth.

Amy Hanson, LSCSW

Amy is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master’s degree from the University of Kansas. For over 15 years, she has provided mental and behavioral health therapy to children, families, and individuals in a variety of settings, specializing in trauma and attachment-focused care. She is a Registered Play Therapist, Advanced Clinical Hypnotherapist, and Mastery Method Coach. Whether working with individuals, couples, adults, or children, Amy is passionate about witnessing the growth and healing that comes from leaning into vulnerability and approaching challenges with compassion and curiosity. She supports clients in developing tools and strategies to navigate difficulties while also guiding them through deeper inner work to cultivate self-love, inner peace, and the confidence to live a truly free and fulfilling life. Drawing from a wide range of modalities, Amy customizes each client’s experience to best meet their needs and goals. She strives to create a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space for all.

Vy Mai

Vy (pronounced “Vee”) is a therapy practicum student currently training under the supervision of Dr. Abella and Dr. Garlock while pursuing a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at Kansas City University. With a background in human development and health communications, her path into mental health is rooted in a deep commitment to connection, understanding, and meaningful change. Before graduate school, Vy worked in community-based organizations and public health, developing a strong passion for accessible care and collaborative support. She recently completed a diagnostic practicum focused on working with neurodivergent individuals, particularly those with late-diagnosed autism and ADHD. Outside of the therapy space, she enjoys crafts (especially junk journaling), exploring Kansas City, spending time with loved ones, and caring for her dog. Vy is passionate about integrated care and creating a space where clients feel seen, supported, and empowered. She is honored to walk alongside clients as they pursue intentional and lasting change.

Karsen Wilkins

Karsen is a doctoral candidate in Clinical Psychology at Kansas City University, driven by a deep desire to help others and make a meaningful impact. With experience in inpatient psychiatric care, residential substance use treatment, and forensic settings, her clinical interests include health psychology, trauma, substance use, and military psychology. Her therapeutic approach emphasizes empathy, open communication, and evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), all tailored to meet each client’s unique needs and goals. Karsen values a collaborative, context-aware approach that highlights individual strengths and fosters resilience. Known for her genuine demeanor and ability to build rapport quickly, she creates a warm and supportive environment for growth. Outside of therapy, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, discovering new restaurants, walking her dog in nature, exploring creative hobbies, and reading a wide range of books.
